Open University Sailing Club
Membership
OUSC welcomes applications for membership from all regardless of race, religion, age, sex and skill.
There is no joining fee.
Annual membership fees for April 2009 - March 2010
- Family £75
- Individual £60
- Full-time Student £40
- HSC Associate £30
For this you get almost unlimited sailing in a choice of three boats as well as:
- Free introductory familiarisation sessions during the summer
- Inexpensive or free instruction to at least RYA level one (through HSC)
- Life jackets
- Insurance (OUSC boats are insured, and while sailing these, members have third party insurance included in their membership fee)
Your completed application form and cheque made payable to "Open University Sailing Club" should be returned to the Membership Secretary: Carmel Collins, Research School, Room 127, South West Building, Walton Hall, Milton Keynes, MK7 6AA.
Please note that it is a condition of membership that every member abides by the HSC rules and bye-laws. It is also a condition of membership at HSC that we all do one or more duties during the club year (Race Assistant, Bar or Kitchen staff). Those interested in doing their duty as a Race Officer or as Safety Boat Helm or Crew should approach a member of the HSC committee to organise this for themselves.
Children
For those planning to bring children to the lake it is essential that you are aware of the HSC rules.
"Parents and guardians are warned that the club is only able to provide rescue facilities during the hours of club racing and organised Buccaneers training. Outside these hours parents and guardians have sole responsibility for their children and wards and must appreciate that the club cannot be expected to exercise supervision or control. Even during club racing and Buccaneers training the club cannot accept responsibility for children, or any other persons, not engaged in the organised activities."
